The Katanning Miniature Railway is a charming attraction that brings the joy of train rides to the town of Katanning, Western Australia. This delightful railway offers the opportunity to experience the thrill of riding miniature trains hauled by both diesel and steam locomotives. On the ride you will be taken around the track, through the trees and over the creek. Enjoy the spring flowers, spot the snakes in 'Snake Gully' and our friendly crocodiles in 'Crocodile Creek'.
Enjoy refreshments such as, scones, cakes, ice creams and drinks in our tearooms and a sausage sizzle at lunch time. With multiple trains in operation, they are sure to bring a smile to every child's face.

The Katanning Public Art Gallery, located adjacent to the Katanning Public Library, is one of the largest galleries within the Great Southern Region and showcases a diverse range of exhibitions throughout the year.

Kobeelya/Kobeelya Museum

Built in 1902 as the family home for Mr F.H. Piesse, Katanning's founding father, Kobeelya is an incredibly prestigious building. After Mr Piesse's death, Kobeelya was used as a girls Boarding School. Kobeelya is owned and operated by the Katanning Baptist Church. Offering accommodation and tours to the public. Come and explore Kobeelya’s rich history with a tour. Accommodation is available for small and large groups. Kobeelya forms an important piece of Katanning's history and is well worth a visit.
The museum is situated in the former Coach House on the grounds of the Katanning Baptist Church and Conference Centre, Brownie Street Katanning. The extensive memorabilia collection and the Coach House are maintained by the Old Kobeelyans’ Association. Visitors are always welcome to view the Museum and St. Michael and All Angels chapel by appointment.
Katanning Sale Yards

Opened in 2014, the Katanning Regional Sale Yards are the biggest undercover yards in the Southern Hemisphere. Sales are held on Wednesdays each week with preparation for the sale starting on Tuesdays.
Each week 26,000 sheep are moved through the yards.

A cornerstone building in the center of town, the Premier Roller Flour Mill has been at the core of Katanning’s heart and soul since its foundation in 1891.
Its commercial success as a flour milling operation spanned for a couple of decades. Recently the building has been redeveloped into a Dome Restaurant, Bar and Luxury Hotel.
The Premier Mill stands out from other Restaurants with it’s original industrial fixtures and the essence of the building that has been maintained.

The Katanning Historical Society and Museum is a well-established cultural institution located in the town of Katanning, Western Australia. The historical society was established in 1937 by a group of passionate locals who were dedicated to preserving the rich history and heritage of the Katanning region.
Today, the museum (established in 1969) is home to an impressive collection of artifacts, photographs, and documents that provide a fascinating glimpse into the past of this charming rural town.
Katanning Mosque

The Katanning Mosque, which opened in 1980 was built by Katanning's large Cocos Malay community, which originated from the Cocos and Christmas Islands. They form the congregation of this Mosque.
The Islanders have contributed to the diversity of the community and maintain their unique cultural identity by operating their own Mosque.
Lake Ewlyamartup

Lake Ewlyamartup has a rich heritage as a popular recreational destination for a variety of outdoor enthusiasts. Spanning an impressive 100 hectares, this picturesque lake has long attracted water skiers, kayakers, birdwatchers, and picnickers, offering a range of activities for all to enjoy. Situated approximately 17 kilometers east of Katanning. The lake's tranquil setting is enhanced by the presence of a diverse array of bird species, with a remarkable count of 95 bird species calling it home. Police Pools Nature Reserve

Katanning Lions Park, Clive Street, Katanning
Katanning is renowned for its remarkable diversity, and this vibrant character is beautifully showcased through the 'Fly Your Flag' display. Nestled within Lions Park, this impressive exhibit comprises 20 flagpoles, proudly hoisting an array of different flags. The display serves as a powerful symbol of inclusivity and celebrates the multicultural fabric of the town.
Both the flag display and Lions Park underwent revitalization in 2019, offering visitors an enhanced and inviting experience. The park serves as an idyllic setting for a leisurely picnic, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the picturesque surroundings and indulge in a delightful outdoor meal. The provision of toilet facilities ensures convenience and accessibility for visitors. Additionally, a gazebo offers a shaded spot to relax and unwind, providing respite from the sun or a gathering point for socializing.
Heritage Rose Garden

Situated at the intersection of Austral Terrace and Clive Street in Katanning, the Heritage Rose Garden is a charming oasis that beckons visitors to bask in its tranquil ambiance. Within the Heritage Rose Garden, visitors can embark on a unique journey through time with the Noongar time walk, which offers insights into the rich indigenous heritage of the region. Old Winery ruins
Warren Road (opposite the Mosque), Katanning
In 1904 AE Piesse built this winery to process grapes harvested from the Piesse family vineyards. When the winery ceased operations, much of the wine making equipment was sold to the monks at New Norcia, North of Perth. The vines that you see around the winery are part of the original vineyard. The winery is now privately owned.
O'Callaghan Park
Kierle Street, Katanning
O’Callaghan Park is an old racecourse. This dog friendly park offers a large grassed area as well multiple short and long walking tracks. It is a great dog exercise area. The park is also home to a huge selection of wildflowers in Spring.
Form Art Trail
The Katanning Art Trail seamlessly blends the creativity of local artists with the renowned Public Silo Trail, resulting in a unique and captivating experience. To guide visitors through this artistic journey, maps are conveniently available in numerous local coffee shops and stores. In November 2017, the Public Silo Trail made a stop in Katanning. However, as the town lacks silos, a creative decision was made to illuminate a series of Western Power electrical transformer boxes and walls in the town center. Renowned street artists Brenton See, Chris Nixon, Darren Hutchens, and Mel McVee left their artistic mark on the town.
Their murals, scattered throughout Katanning, contribute to the vibrant and engaging art scene. To fully explore and appreciate the Katanning Art Trail, visitors are encouraged to seek out the information center where more detailed maps and additional information are readily available. The friendly staff will be more than happy to assist and provide guidance to ensure an immersive and enriching art experience.
